Work Force: high school graduates and higher education students constitute a labor reserve of almost 400 thousand people
The more than 70,000 high school students graduating in the spring exam period and the approximately 330,000 students participating in higher education programs represent a potential labor reserve for companies, and not only for the summer period, the Work Force group told MTI on Tuesday.
Student work is not only a cost-effective solution, but also a conscious response to the challenges of the domestic labor market, the statement quoted Tamás Papp, head of Work Force’s student business (Job Force).
The expert explained:
The immediate start of work, digital skills and flexibility of young people fit the rapidly changing expectations of companies, especially during seasonal and market fluctuations. At the same time, the employment costs of students are significantly more favorable compared to other forms of employment.
With their outstanding technological skills, young employees quickly adapt to new trends, bringing fresh thinking and innovation potential to organizations. Employing students not only means an immediate capacity expansion, but also provides an opportunity to consciously build the future supply of professionals, the statement said.
According to Job Force’s own data, high school and first-year university students can work an average of 15-20 hours per week, while students who are advanced in their studies can work 25-30 hours. Students looking for a professional internship typically look for a 40-hour work opportunity per week. The average hourly wage for students is between 1,800 and 2,200 forints.
The 100 percent Hungarian-owned Work Force Kft. has been dealing with labor leasing and labor mediation since 2003. Work Force’s student business, the Job Force school cooperative, supports companies in securing student labor with nationwide coverage and a digital application system.
