Nine out of ten Hungarians do not eat enough vegetables and fruits
Only 10% of us eat the amount of vegetables and fruit recommended by the World Health Organization, i.e. at least 5 servings of vegetables and fruit per day, according to the data of a recent, representative survey conducted by STADA within the framework of the Seedling Program. Moreover, based on the survey, only every second person is aware of the recommendation at all. It turned out that seasonality means a lot to most of us, but approx. every 4th Hungarian buys vegetables and fruits that he wants or that are cheap.
We know what’s in season, but we don’t only buy these
Rhubarb, currants, cherries, raspberries, cherries, gooseberries, tomatoes, kohlrabi, beets, zucchini, cauliflower and many other fruits and vegetables that are in season in June. 23% of Hungarians grow vegetables and fruit either in a garden or in a balcony box – it was revealed in a representative survey conducted in connection with STADA’s Seedling Program*. 90% of people are aware of which vegetables and fruits are in season, and in fact, seasonality means a lot to two-thirds of Hungarians. Although in a smaller proportion, there are those (15%) who only choose seasonal products, while according to their own admission, every second of our compatriots prefers them, but does not buy them exclusively. 24% admit that they know which vegetables and fruits are in season, but do not pay attention to it; most of them buy what they want, and every 10th Hungarian buys what is cheap.
