We can expect a closer economic and tourism partnership with Montenegro
Montenegro is a particularly important partner for Hungary, and the Hungarian government is committed to supporting Montenegro’s accession to the European Union. The strengthening of economic and tourism relations between the two countries clearly indicates the importance of the partnership.
Minister of National Economy Márton Nagy met with Montenegrin Minister of Tourism Vladimir Martinovics on Thursday to discuss the possibilities of cooperation between the two countries. At the meeting, it was emphasized that the turnover of foreign trade products in 2023 was already close to 100 million euros, which represents a significant improvement compared to recent years.
Montenegro is also a priority partner for Hungarian investments. In 2022, the value of Hungarian capital in Montenegro amounted to 314 million euros, making the country the 21st most important target country for Hungarian investors.
The tourism relations between the two countries are also constantly strengthening. Márton Nagy welcomed the fact that more and more Montenegrins are choosing Hungary as their destination. In the first half of 2024, more than 4,300 Montenegrin guests visited Hungary, who spent more than 11,000 guest nights in domestic accommodations. This represents a 39 percent increase in the number of guests and a 42 percent increase in the number of guest nights compared to the same period in 2023.
