Péter György, country manager of Alufix Hungary Kft.:
“Discounter chains continue their conquest and this is creating new barriers for the manufacturers and distributors of branded products”.
Krisztián Kovács, sales manager of Mazzini Kft. adds that average prices have typically decreased, despite the fact that – in addition to the effects mentioned above – EPR charges have also resulted in extra costs for manufacturers and distributors.
Flexible use
According to Péter György, his company realised double-digit growth in the past period, with new partners and a bigger product selection being the main drivers of growth. Alufix Hungary Kft. is paying special attention to the HoReCa/gastronomy channel, where the number of partners keeps growing. For many years their most popular products have been 30-metre aluminium foil and 20-sheet baking paper, and in the high season 14- and 17-micron grill foil. Several innovations are in the pipeline for 2025 and one of them is the 3in1 size-independent Airfryer baking paper, which can be used for hot air ovens, multicookers and baking tins.

Entry-level price products are leading the way, but more and more people also mind value for money
Convenience first

Mazzini
Krisztián Kovács opines that price remains the most important factor for shoppers when making purchasing decisions.
“First-price products are the best-sellers, but more and more people are also looking at value for money. The biggest losers in recent years have been mid-range products. Sales in the premium segment have remained basically unchanged”,
informs the sales manager of Mazzini Kft.
Comfort features and ergonomics are also crucial, adds Péter György. Mazzini Kft.’s grill foil is a great success, as it is made from thicker than average material. The company’s 100% recycled drawstring bin bags are also popular. In recent years they have added four new papers for Air Fryer to the baking papers portfolio. //
