Support for suckler cow farmers to arrive earlier this year
The government is taking another step to help livestock farmers who have found themselves in a difficult situation due to the direct or indirect effects of the foot-and-mouth disease virus. Compared to previous years, the payments for the 2024 suckler cow farming support title have been scheduled earlier, so the Hungarian State Treasury will start disbursing them in April.

József Viski highlighted that the government is committed to supporting agriculture, as demonstrated by the acceleration of support decisions and the disbursement of application funds. These simultaneously enable farmers to maintain their solvency and strengthen the competitiveness of agriculture.
The Hungarian State Treasury will start disbursing partial payments to almost 6,000 applicants, in the amount of more than 9 billion forints
The first installment of the payment will be 151 euros per suckler cow, or nearly 60,000 forints. Following the processing of the results of the inspections concerning the legal title, the remaining amounts will also be transferred in May, added József Viski. According to his information, in the coming days, beef cow keepers will also receive the majority of the suckler cow support requested in 2024. Dairy cow keepers, bull fatteners and sheep keepers have already received the majority of the EU support requested under the production-related legal title submitted within the framework of the single application. In addition to the production-related support financed from EU funds, the payment of the temporary national support financed from the national budget may also begin soon.
