Japanese Nissin Foods brings its second European manufacturing plant to Hungary
Japanese Nissin Foods, one of the market leaders in the production of instant foods, is now bringing its second European production plant to Kecskemét. The investment worth 40 billion forints will double the company’s current local capacity, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó announced in Budapest on Friday.
According to the ministry’s statement, the minister reported that the Japanese food company Nissin Foods is establishing a new production unit in Kecskemét to produce instant noodle soups in bags and cups as part of an investment of approximately 40 billion forints. The state is supporting the development with more than ten billion forints, thus helping to increase the number of employees to 600.
In his speech, he pointed out that the company is bringing the most modern technology available to Hungary, and in addition, it uses mostly local raw materials during its operation, thus the proportion of Hungarian suppliers is constantly increasing.
He added that 90 percent of the products produced in Kecskemét are sold on foreign markets, and the factory currently has an annual capacity of over 250 million pieces, which will now be doubled.
Péter Szijjártó, also praising the strategy of opening to the East, highlighted that there are more than two hundred Japanese companies operating in Hungary, which employ 30,000 people, and that the government has provided support for 72 large Japanese investments in the past ten years.
He also touched on the fact that Bács-Kiskun County is contributing increasingly to the performance of the Hungarian economy, with unemployment falling from 9.3 percent to 4.5 percent in ten years, while the value of industrial production has increased from 1,800 billion forints to 3,800 billion forints.
